First impressions
My name is Gaurav Khanna. Coming from the "City Beautiful" of India to the "City of Discovery" in the UK, I have found Dundee a fitting place for an aspirational researcher. The Concrete Technology Unit within the Civil Engineering department is a place where research ideas are nurtured and flourish under the supervision of a world class research group, supported by state-of-the-art research facilities.
My research
I am currently working on concrete durability and Service Life Modelling. My PhD research aims to develop a new economical and environmentally sustainable durability design based on the "Equivalent Durability Concept", and stochastic modelling of the service life of concrete structures with respect to the carbonation-induced corrosion. The findings of the study are directly influencing decisions being made at European level for updating EN 206-1 in year 2010.
