Student Support & Information
The ethos of the School is to help you reach your full potentential. To get the best out of your studies, we recommend that you need to get the right balance between work and play, and for many of you, a job. Away from academic work, there are many clubs and societies run by Dundee University Students' Association (DUSA). Students are encouraged to take the opportunity to try something new or continue what you already enjoy so that you have some way of refreshing the body and mind once in a while.
We have a number of ways of helping our students succeed in their studies while with us:
-
Advisers of Studies help undergraduate students pick their subjects, and give advice if they wish to change course.
-
Personal Tutors discuss progress, problems, and such with students - a student will have the same perosonal tutor for his/her entire period of undergraduate study.
-
Lecturers: our School is known to have a good staff:student ratio, so that lecturers know you and have time to spend with you. The School supports the principal of research-lead teaching: our lecturers are active researchers, typically nationally or even internationally renowned in their field.
-
Lab tutors: senior students help in practical laboratory classes.
-
The Secretary to the School, Ms Viv White (v.l.white@dundee.ac.uk), is located in the School office, and can be consulted on any administrative matter which may affect you during your time as a student within the School. The Secretary to the School has particular responsibility for advising students on the rules and regulations which govern the School.
