Concrete Technology Unit (CTU)

The Concrete Technology Unit (CTU) was established in 1989 and has grown into a world class research Centre of Excellence. Our staff are constantly seeking to meet new challenges and opportunities within the areas of civil, structural and environmental engineering. Our programmes are research-led, and therefore develop continuously to reflect leading-edge technology and current and emerging needs of the profession.

Fluid Mechanics Research Group

Within the Fluid Mechanics research sub-group, modelling and field studies are being used to investigate a wide range of problems in environmental, industrial, medical and physical fluid mechanics. Most of these studies are concerned with flows having direct engineering relevance, though other more fundamental investigations are undertaken of other fluid dynamical phenomena that have no direct technological application.

Geotechnical Engineering Research Group

‌‌The Geotechnical Engineering research sub-group was established in 1997 and it has grown significantly since that time. In addition to its undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research activities, the group offers services to industry across a broad range of geotechnical engineering.
