Most current research is linked to the theme of catchment-scale sediment delivery processes, though a recent and important development has been in working in the area of hydromorphology related to the implementation requirements of the European Water Framework Directive (WFD). Specific projects generally fall within the following key areas: Sediment provenance studies using quantitative multivariate mixing models; application of environmental radionuclides i.e. 137Cs and 210Pb to erosion/sedimentation studies; geomorphology of sediment sinks (floodplains, alluvial fans, lakes and reservoirs); environmental reconstruction, resource management and environmental impact assessment and the hydromorphology of rivers and lakes.
