Students take modules in English (or English and Film) at Levels 1, 2 and 3 thus completing a three-year degree, or progress further to an Honours 4th year. At Levels 3 and 4, students choose papers from a wide range of options. Students progress through the degree structure in the following way:

The flexibility of the MA degree structure means students take modules across three or four subject areas, including English, in both Levels 1 and 2 (Level 2 only for the Advanced Entry Honours degrees). These subject areas currently include:
While you apply for your anticipated final degree, you do not have to finalise your choice of degree course until Level 3 when you are better able to appreciate both the nature of the subjects you are studying and the relationships between them.
