Since 2007, English has a Professor of Creative Writing, Kirsty Gunn. Kirsty is a critically acclaimed award-winning novelist who teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Creative Writing is available as a joint honours degree (MA English and Creative Writing). In addition, students taking a degree in English alone are able to select a number of Creative Writing modules as options.
There are several undergraduate modules available to help establish creative writing and practice within the study of English Literature. At Level 3 we offer Introduction to Creative Writing Practice and Writing as Making: Poetics and Creativity, and at Level 4 Making Writing Matter which are designed, in practical workshops and seminars, to help you recognise and develop your own distinctive creative writing capabilities.
