Although the MPhil can be converted to a PhD, provided a suitable level of research is obtained, AHRC funding for PhDs now requires that you take a taught Masters degree first.
The entry requirement is normally an honours degree at 2.1 or above, or a Masters degree in a relevant discipline. If your first language is not English, the requirement is IELTS of 6.5 overall, with no less than 6.0 in the written component and no less than 5.5 in any other component. Further information is available on the English Language Requirements page of the postgraduate prospectus.
Applications for a research degree should be submitted via the online system UKPASS. Further information, including direct links to UKPASS, is available in the entry for English and Creative Writing in the postgraduate prospectus.
