Graphic Novels, Bandes dessinées and Comics 2011This major academic conference on comics, bandes dessinées and graphic novels, co-organised by Dr Chris Murray (with Dr Dave Huxley, Dr Joan Ormrod, Dr Julia Round and Dr Mat Screech), will be held at Manchester Metropolitan University from 5-8 July 2011. Hosted by The International Bande Dessinée Society, The Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics, and Studies in Comics (co-edited by Dr Chris Murray), it hopes to be a major landmark in the international study of comics.
The keynote speakers are :
- the American artist Melinda Gebbie
- the English Artist and Writer, Hunt Emerson
- the French artist Edmond Baudoin
- Professor Pierre Fresnault-Deruelle from the Sorbonne University, Paris.
Other speakers include established experts such as Bart Beaty, Martin Barker and Ann Miller.
Papers will be considered for publication in various academic journals, including Studies in Comics.
