Literary Salons - Autumn Programme
Established by Kirsty Gunn as part of the creative writing programme, Literary Salons have become an important part of our developing creative life here at Dundee - and are a great way to meet leading writers, publishers and agents from all over the UK, ask them questions about their work and writing practice and get top tips and advice about how to develop your own literary career.
Autumn Programme
1st October 2009
Publishers Panel
Publishers and editors from Dundee and beyond get together to talk with you about the special opportunities that are available for getting your work published in this part of the world. Find out about the Dundee Book Prize, short story writing, blogging and self publishing.
15th October 2009
Jason Donald
Dundonian Jason Donald's first novel, Choke Chain, has been a critical and commercial success, winning plaudits and racing to the top of the bestsellers chart.
Set in 1980's South Africa, Choke Chain evokes subtle symbolism of a pre apartheid world by juxtaposing the ongoing bigotry viewed by a child.
Jason will read from his book and explain how he got his book deal and what it's like to have your first book in print.
29th October 2009
'In Cold Ink'
Writer, journalist and the Scotsman's Literary Editor David Robinson joins us for an evening of reading and discussion about where fact and fiction merge and how journalism and creative writing can often mean the same thing. Listen to David read, then there will be the chance to ask him about his work.
19th November
