Dr Victor Skretkowicz Passes Away After Long Illness
Present and former staff and students will be very saddened indeed to hear that our Honorary Research Fellow and long standing former member of staff, Dr Victor Skretkowicz, passed away on Wednesday 22 July.
Victor was a strong and able advocate of the English Progamme at Dundee, a talented teacher and a most affectionate colleague. He will be remembered for his work as a world expert on Sir Philip Sidney and his circle, his magisterial edition of Sidney's The Countess of Pembroke's Arcadia (The New Arcadia), (1987), his pioneering work on the Dictionary of the Scots Language and his courageous response to Motor Neurone Disease which dogged his last years.
The funeral will take place on Friday 31 July at 10.30 am in St Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, 1 High Street, Dundee; thereafter to Parkgrove Crematorium, Friockheim for 12.30 to which all are affectionately invited. Family flowers only and donations, if desired, for Marie Curie Cancer Care and Scottish Motor Neurone Disease will be received at the Church and Crematorium.
