Societies and Groups
Associated with the English Programme
Groups run by staff in the English programme include:
- The JOOT Theatre Company: run under the direction of Jodi-Anne George, JOOT has undertaken many well-received performances both at home and abroad.
- Scottish Word and Image Group (SWIG): this group researches aspects of the relationship between verbal and visual representation (Secretary: Chris Murray; Co-ordinator: Keith Williams).
There is also a Postgraduate Website, by and for current postgraduate students in the English programme.
Creative Writing Magazines
- Dundee Writes: a magazine of creative writing by students, staff and recent graduates of the University of Dundee, produced and edited by postgraduates on the MLitt course in Writing Practice and Study.
- New Writing Dundee: published by the University's Discovery Press, the imprint of Dundee University Press that works alongside the creative writing programme.

Arts Review Magazine
- Dundee University Review of the Arts (DURA): a review of fiction, poetry, film, theatre and other associated arts produced and edited by students and staff of the University of Dundee (launched autumn 2012).
Student Societies
There are more than 40 student societies affiliated to the Students' Assocation (DUSA). Some that may be of interest to students in English, Film Studies, Creative Writing and Theatre Studies include:
