The English programme, and the University of Dundee as a whole, have performed exceptionally well in recent assessments.

Awards for English at Dundee

English was rated 'Excellent' for teaching and scored highly in the latest (2008) Research Assessment Exercise.

English was rated the 12th best University English Department in the United Kingdom out of over 100 English Departments in The Guardian University Guide 2012.   Dundee was placed above many distinguished institutions in the UK, and above all but one Scottish university.  The programme scored particularly high points for its value-added features (10/10), the percentage of students who were satisfied with our teaching (98%), and the percentage of students who were satisfied with their course (95%).  Only one other university in the league tables received a 10/10 for value-added features, and only two beat or equalled the Dundee programme's 98% for teaching (Aberdeen and Leeds Trinity University College).

English has been consistently rated as among the top English programmes in Scotland by The Sunday Times Good University Guide.
