 Professional Experience

Presently working as a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Dundee (Department of Electronic Engineering and Renewable Energy).

Has been worked as a Doctoral researcher at the department of physics, Experimental Condensed Matter Physics Group, University of Antwerp,Belgium. 2004 – 2009

Pre-Doctoral researcher at the department of physics, Experimental Condensed Matter Physics Group,University of Antwerp, Belgium. 2003 – 2004

During my PhD study, I was responsible for planning the experiments, to assist and evaluate the work of final year Masters and Bachelor thesis students.

Has been worked as a Lecturer at the Centre for Advanced Studied in Physics (CASP), Government College University Lahore (GCU), 1999- 2002

Has been worked as a project manager at softmatics an IT company, 1997- 1999

Research Interests

  • Optical and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
  • Semiconductors Nanostructures
  • Photorefractive Materials

Recent Research Projects

  • Study of defects in ferroelectric materials using Electron Magnetic Resonance (EMR) techniques.
  • Characterization of photorefractive bismuth sillenite (Bi12MO20: M= Si, Ge, Ti) single crystals using Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) and optical spectroscopic techniques. The aim of this work was to identify and characterize the nature of impurity atom defects and other optically active centres and when possible to correlate them with the optical properties in order to unravel the photorefractivity mechanism.
  • Investigation of spin polarization dynamics (the spin relaxation time, the lifetime and the initial degree of spin polarization) in doped and non-doped GaAs semiconductors using femtosecond Time Resolved Photoluminescence Laser Spectroscopy.
