Amin currently holds an EPSRC Career Acceleration Fellowship and a lectureship in physics at the University of Dundee. He obtained his first degree in Optical Engineering for work on new laser crystals from Belarus National Technical University, Minsk, Belarus. He then earned an MPhil in Fibre Lasers for work on high-power two-micron fibre-bulk hybrid lasers from Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton, United Kingdom, and a Dr. rer. nat. (magna cum laude) in Applied Physics for modification of optical and structural properties of nanocomposites from the Martin-Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, Germany (Jan. 2006). Amin is a member of the Optical Society of America (OSA). To date he holds two patents and authored/co-authored over 80 publications in peer-reviewed journals, proceedings and international conferences.
