Nano-Materials Research Lab. (NMRL)

NMRL is tasked with producing nano-materials for cross-disciplinary collaborative research with life sciences, civil engineering, dentistry, physics and electrical engineering. The development of this centre has also opened up collaboration with other universities and industry. The Lab. facilities are growing at a rapid pace, including a pair of new carbon nanotube production chambers, and two new methods for producing nano-catalyst particles.

One of the keenest developments in nanotechnology research at present is the multitude of potential applications of carbon nanotubes and nano-particles. Nanotubes in particular are receiving a great deal of attention in many disparate fields of research. NMRL has formed a collaborative group of researchers in Scotland to investigate aspects of these unique nano-structures - involving collaboration with researchers in various disciplines including medical, electronic, power (storage & generation), environmental, structural, mechanical and bio-science arenas, and an array of universities including; various departments at Dundee University, St. Andrews, Strathclyde, Abertay, and Robert Gordon Universities.
