Paul Allanson is a senior lecturer and currently Head of Economic Studies. A graduate of Newcastle University (BSc Agric Econ) with a PhD from Manchester University. Formerly Lord Richard Percy Fellow in the Centre for Rural Economy at Newcastle, he moved to Dundee in 1995.

Research
Applied microeconomics, including recent work on the distribution of agricultural support and the welfare of the farming community; the evolution of the racial wage hierarchy in the South African labour market; imperfect competition among multiproduct firms.
I am currently working on the characterisation and measurement of income and health mobility. Member of
Dundee Health Economics Group.
