Professor John Dewhurst holds a Chair in Economic, Social and Regional Statistics. He graduated from the University of Cambridge (Economics Tripos) and gained a masters degree in Quantitative Social Studies from the University of Kent at Canterbury and his Ph.D. from the University of Dundee. He is a Chartered Statistician.

External Affiliations

John Dewhurst is a past Chairman of the Regional Science Association International: British & Irish Section. He was Series Editor of European Research in Regional Science, and a past European Editor of Papers in Regional Science. He has held visiting positions at the University of Queensland and at Kansas State University.

Research

His research interests lie in Regional Economics and Economic Statistics. He has a continuing interest in both the construction and use of regional input-output tables, in regional economic convergence in the UK and the EU, in regional specialisation and economic growth and in CGE modelling of developing countries.
