Scottish Institute for Research in Economics (SIRE) PhD Studentship available

Applications are invited for a fully funded +3 PhD studentship (fees and bursary) for full-time doctoral research in Economics. Applications are sought from exceptionally well-qualified individuals with research interests in macroeconomics, international economics or health economics.

Applicants are expected to have successfully completed an MSc degree in mainstream economics from a UK university or have comparable qualifications from another recognised higher education institution, and to have achieved outstanding results in their assessment for macroeconomics, microeconomics and econometrics.

The successful applicant will have their full fees paid at the appropriate UK/EU/international rate for 3 years and will also receive an annual stipend equal in value to the ESRC standard maintenance award (£13,590 in 2011/12) over this period. In addition, there will be support for conference attendance and additional research expenses. The successful applicant will become a Graduate Teaching Assistant and is expected to take up teaching duties equivalent to up to 100 hours of undergraduate tutorials per academic year as well as performing other teaching related duties such as examination invigilation and marking.
