Biography

After graduating from Newport Art College in 1979, I Trained as a 2D Animator at Halas & Batchelor, under the mentorship of Harold Whittaker. As a freelance Animator I worked on TV Commercials, TV Specials and Series. At Siriol Productions in Cardiff I concentrated on Storyboarding.

Amongst many other productions, I worked on the popular, BAFTA winning series Superted. I went on to head the Storyboard & Layout Department at that studio and directed the BBC TV series Romuald the Reindeer. For this work I received a BAFTA nomination as Director, along with Producer Robin Lyons.

Since moving to Scotland in 1996 to head up Siriol Scotland, I have storyboarded and directed series for several Scottish Animation Companies. I continue to pursue my passion for storytelling through the medium of animation and as a part of my Scholarship here at DofJ I am exploring the use and application of digital packages such as MAYA.

I encourage teamwork in the modules I deliver. Best professional practice to industry standard being the goal. I collaborate with Staff and ex students on several animation projects. Script writing, storyboarding and consultation on current animated productions, here in Scotland and further afield is ongoing.
