Biography
Roddy Mathieson graduated in Sculpture from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, and has gone on to develop his practice in public art, establish his own foundry (´Alchemy – The Mobile Foundry´), deliver an outreach programme of arts education workshops, and produce and exhibit a diverse portfolio of works.
His work is informed by skills, processes, and materials, and is influenced by landscape, and the elements that shape it. Researching themes of site-specifics and our relationship with nature, Roddy has produced landmark works such as ‘Sanctuary’ in North Uist, and M∞ in Glasgow.
In his post as Workshop Technician at DOJ, Roddy draws on his skills and experience as a maker and artist to assist the students in the realisation of their work, supporting all types of 3D making/installation across the college.
