Biography

Lara Scobie is a graduate of from Camberwell College of Arts and Crafts, London. Specialising in Ceramics, she continued her studies at Edinburgh College of Art and completed a Post Graduate Degree in 1989.

Lara has taught part-time at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design since 1996. Initially teaching on the former Ceramics Degree programme and presently within General Foundation Studies Course where she is a core member of staff. Lara has also been a visiting lecturer at Kansas State University, Philadelphia College of Art and the New Zealand Ceramics Association.

Throughout her teaching career Lara has continued to design and produce her own work, establishing a strong reputation within the Craft sector. Lara has worked on a wide range of projects and commissions including designing and making the recent awards for the Scottish Sustainable Development Commission. She has exhibited extensively and has work in both private and public collections within the UK and abroad.
