Biography
Kate Saunderson is in the early stages of career in both Design Ethnography and in academia itself. She has stepped from Design into Design ethnography as a route to try and get to grips with the why rather than the how. She applies this interest to both industry-funded projects; she worked with Intel Ireland to explore how older adults connect with games and technology and with daily teaching interactions. In her work alongside Cat Macaulay, Director of the MSc Design Ethnography course, she has had the opportunity to supervise and work with students both during the studio setting and the ‘Design Ethnography Hothouse’ which finds the students set off internationally to work with industry on live research projects. She is currently collaborating on projects to build the community of Design Ethnography both within the walls of DJCAD and internationally with industry and academia alike. While honing her networking abilities she is looking to further her understanding of teaching in both physical and online, university and business based practices.
