In Level 2 you learn new skills. This level helps you to construct a bridge between what you already know and new practices that will help you develop as an illustrator. The course will include assignments, instruction and workshops. Study visits and field trips will further enhance your experience.
You will work towards clearly defined aims and objectives both individually and as part of a group. We will encourage you to develop your own direction within assignments and you will engage in debate about your work through group tutorials, personal tutorials and self-assessment appraisals. You will also attend Contemporary Media Theory lectures and seminars.
Level 3

- strategic experimentation
- research and development of ideas

- foreign study trip
In Level 3 you begin to explore. You will use the experience you have gained in level 2 to broaden your creative development, reflect on illustration practices and strengthen your command of various modes of production. Half way through the session you will prepare a personal programme of study which will provide a foundation for your work for the remainder of Level 3.
You will continue to attend Contemporary Media Theory lectures which at this level focus on:
- research methodology
- knowledge economics and the creative industry
- identifying a focus for dissertation research
- progressing with research independently
- relationships between theory and practice
Level 4
- personal programme of research
- dissertation
- degree show exposition
In Level 4 you become the director. You will consolidate everything you have developed in the previous levels to take ownership of your personal projects. You will start the session by presenting your proposed personal programme of study. Your development will be supported by workshops in contemporary technologies, professional practice lectures and personal tutorials with staff. You will be encouraged to investigate creative research. In this level Contemporary Media Theory focuses on producing a dissertation. You will use this support to deliver a 7000 word dissertation.
