General Foundation - Student Profiles

Scott Andrew Millar (2006)

Duncan of Jordanstone has an unrivalled reputation - widely regarded as the best art college north of the border and one of the best in Europe. I always had high ambitions and needed a place that could pass on the skills that I required whilst allowing me to have the freedom to develop personally. DJCAD gave me that. I was allowed to experiment out-with my own discipline, which only added to my strengths. I was provided the full support of my department to push beyond the comfort zones of my discipline.

Jessica Treffler 2004

Not only did we have very professional equipment and facilities in the department, but we were also taught in a way that I found to be very helpful. We were able to use other departments' facilities and staff expertise. The art history and theory program offered a broad range of possibilities to develop artistic work and gain experience.

Cate Gillon 2001

Duncan of Jordanstone was great. The studios and printing facilities were excellent with long hours, with good technicians and helpful staff.

The tuition at Duncan of Jordanstone is second to none, the lecturers really care about the students and they always had the time to talk about my work and make sure that I was getting as much out of the course as possible.

Malcolm Buick 1995

My experience at Duncan of Jordanstone prepared me for life beyond art school. Art school is great, it's a place to experiment, be silly, make mistakes and learn.

Jacquie Kane (nee Lennie) 1995

The metal and casting workshops in the sculpture department were well-equipped. The workshop technician leaders were excellent, offering students' advice about aesthetics in addition to technical help. The coaching we received from the visiting sculptors was also a huge bonus. I would 110% recommend Dundee and DJCAD to prospective students. Dundee is the city of discovery in more ways than one, and DJCAD is a great place to start that journey.
