Fine Art - FAQs
Why is DJCAD Fine Art different to other art schools in Scotland?
We provide the opportunity to work across the discipline boundaries. A student in Fine Art can; draw, paint make sculpture, print, work with video and photography, perform, work with sound or any other medium in order to explore and develop ideas.
How are we taught?
We teach through a combination of approaches; tutorials, group crits, lectures, study visits, professional practice placements and live projects.
Who would our tutors be?
The Fine Art staff represent a broad variety of areas of expertise and predominantly work within an international context. Many are renowned within their field. DJCAD has an excellent research rating, one of the top in Britain and this reflects our staff's success.
Will we find a job with a degree in the arts?
Research shows that three out of four art school graduates find work within the creative industries and graduates report high levels of satisfaction with their careers.
Where would we work?
You would work in large custom built studios and there are fully equipped workshops available to support a wide range of art practices.
I do not know exactly what I want to do at this stage?
Do not worry, all students are given a chance to decide which discipline or subject they would like to choose after an initial period of experimentation in the first part of the General Course. Once in the area of Fine Art there are still many opportunities to try different approaches to art practice.
