Joanna Montgomery
Course: Digital Interaction Design
Date: 2006-2010
I found myself at DJCAD after a couple of false starts. A short spell of media studies made me realise I wanted to do something more than just theoretical work, but a year of studying art left me itching to learn more technical skills. Digital Interaction Design was perfect for me - a blend of design and computing, it allowed my creativity to run wild whilst also honing key skills which have made me highly desirable to employers. I particularly enjoyed the flexibility my course offered; I was encouraged to explore my own interests and passions, but always supported in my work. I always found my lecturers engaging and enthusiastic and I suspect I will remain in touch with many of them for years to come!
Despite being internationally recognised, DJCAD retains its sense of community and is a great environment to work in. I have been presented with many amazing opportunities throughout my time here, including presenting my work at the Microsoft headquarters in Seattle. I was always challenged and always mattered to the staff - I was always “Jo from Digital Interaction Design”, never just a matriculation number or another student in the system.
My four years at university helped me grow as a person and I would recommend it to anyone.
“Both the course and the student experience far surpassed my expectations and have shaped me into a mature, multi-disciplinary individual with a wealth of knowledge to draw upon.”
Despite graduating in the toughest of economical times, I have received several job offers - I believe this goes a long way in demonstrating how highly respected DJCAD is.
