Entry Requirements

  • Honours degree at 2.1 or above in a visual discipline; or an ability to demonstrate considerable experience in a relevant field
  • Appropriate portfolio of art work
  • Project proposal (300-500 words)
  • IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) for applicants whose first language is not English

Funding and Scholarships

DJCAD Alumni Award 2013/14

We offer a small number of awards which offer a discount on tuition fees (or maintenance allowances) for applicants who have successfully completed an undergraduate degree at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. This discount is also available to those who have completed a postgraduate taught programme at DJCAD, and who now wish to progress to a different taught postgraduate degree.  In order to apply for the available discount, you will need to have been accepted on to your intended programme of study and to have satisfied all the normal academic admission criteria as well as all the conditions of enrolment and registration set down by the University of Dundee.

September 2013 entrants to the Master of Design, Master of Fine Art, Master of Science in Animation and Visualisation, Master of Science in Product Design and Master of Science in Design Ethnography are eligible to apply for one of the following discounts:

Home/EU alumni
£2,000 maintenance award

International alumni
£2,000 towards tuition fees or a £2,000 maintenance award

The criteria for awarding the limited number of awards will be based on academic performance and the personal statement included in the application form.

Applications are available from Fiona Fyffe in the Postgraduate Office.  Upon completion application forms should be submitted to Fiona Fyffe, f.j.fyffe@dundee.ac.uk.  The submission deadline is 14 August 2013.

 

DJCAD Outstanding International Postgraduate Student Award 2013/14

There are up to three scholarships available to prospective international students studying for a full-time taught Master’s programme. The scholarship provides either a £1,500 fee reduction or a £1,500 stipend and is tenable for one year only.

To be eligible to apply you must have been accepted for a place on a full-time postgraduate taught degree (Master of Design, Master of Science in Product Design, Master of Fine Art, Master of Science in Animation and Visualisation or Master of Science in Design Ethnography), have international fee liability and be self-financing to some extent. You will also need to demonstrate academic excellence and / or significant achievement in your chosen field of study.

Please note that students who have already started their Master's course are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

You will need to complete the International Application Form and return by email to f.j.fyffe@dundee.ac.uk or by post to Postgraduate Office, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, University of Dundee, Dundee, DD1 4HT.

Deadline
Applications must reach us by 5 June 2013.

Applicants must have also applied for admission on their chosen course by this date.

DJCAD Outstanding Home/EU Student Award 2013/14

The Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design Outstanding Home/EU Student Award is open on a competitive basis to home/EU students undertaking a taught postgraduate programme in academic session 2013/14.

There are three scholarships of up to £1500 available, which will act as a partial fee reduction or stipend for one year of study only. These scholarships are available for the Master of Design, Master of Fine Art, Master of Science in Product Design, Master of Science in Animation and Visualisation and Master of Science in Design Ethnography programmes.

In order to apply, you must have Home/EU fee liability, and will also need to demonstrate academic excellence and / or significant achievement in your chosen field of study.  Students who have already started their Master's course are not eligible to apply.

All applications will be assessed on academic merit and/or professional experience only - financial circumstances will not be taken into account.

Awarding process
Eligible applications will be reviewed by the relevant Course Directors before being considered by a central selection panel who will determine the final recipients.
