Entrance Portfolio Exhibition 2009

Every year General Foundation in Art and Design staff members are privileged to assess hundreds of entrance portfolios that arrive here from all over the world. The work exhibited is merely a small selection of the entrance portfolios that were successful.

Whilst talent is regarded as a singular priority for admission to Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, the routes that these talents can travel are myriad. For example, there are portfolios on exhibit that have been prepared at School by school leavers and also portfolios produced at College as part of a Portfolio Preparation Course.

Some portfolios exhibit adeptness in the field of Design, whilst others are more focused upon Fine Art and, within particular canons, the artists have stamped their individuality on their work: from taut linework to expressionistic mark-making; paper collage to needle and thread; beautifully muted monochromatic work to floods of sensual colour. Uninvolved artists make uninvolving work.

The General Foundation in Art and Design asks of its artists that they be as involved as they are individual.
