Working together Ryan McLeod and Ian Shiels have brought together their independent specialist skills to make a fantastic interactive video jockey installation. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to mix their own visuals and lighting show within a mini club in the exhibition space.. Ian, originally from Belfast, has produced the physical elements which include innovative three dimensional projection screens where the image is revealed on layers of mesh. Ryan, who did a years course at Telford College before joining the IMD Degree Course, has integrated several software programs to make a responsive and fast-moving hybrid touch screen and movement sensor controlled interface.
The two students observed that lighting within a club environment is often under exploited and controlled by over complicated equipment which does not respond quickly or reflect a creative, expressive nature. In testing their product they have found that after three minutes, with no training, the user is getting into the experience and producing effective visual displays in time to the music. http://qlashr.com/
