What was the aim of the event?

The aim was to launch and present the findings of the Smile4Life Report on the oral and psychosocial health of people experiencing homelessness in Scotland. The presentation provided a policy background to the Report; an introduction to the typologies of homelessness; homeless people’s experiences and challenges when accessing dental care together with recommendations to improve preventive dental services, service access and delivery.

The speakers were:

Professor Ruth Freeman: Director, Oral Health & Health Research Programme, DHS&RU; Hon. Consultant in Dental Public Health, NHS Highland.
Margie Taylor: Chief Dental Officer for Scotland.
Robert Aldridge: Chief Executive, Scottish Council for Single Homeless.
Dr Maura Edwards: Consultant in Dental Public Health, NHS Ayrshire & Arran.
Chris Cunningham: Assistant Clinical Director, Special Care Dentistry, Salaried Primary Care Dental Services, NHS Lothian.

The meeting was worth 3 hours of CPD.
