Brief Biography

Before joining DHSRU in October 2004, Debbie worked as a Research Fellow at the Universities of St Andrews and Aberdeen, working closely with Professor Marie Johnston and Professor Martin Eccles (University of Newcastle).

Qualifications

  • Ph.D., Health Psychology, University of St Andrews
  • M.Litt., Health Economics and Management, University of St Andrews
  • B.A., Sydney University

Current Projects

  • PRIME (Process Modelling in Implementation research): "Exploring the theoretical basis of organisational and health care professional behaviour and behaviour change." The project objectives are to determine the extent to which psychological constructs can predict practitioner (GP and GDP) behaviour and thereby to identify variables that might be appropriate targets for interventions to increase evidence-based practice.
  • CSO/SHEFC/Scottish Consortium funded ERUPT study: "The effect of remuneration and education on the implementation of research evidence to reduce inequalities in oral health."

Debbie is also a consultant on numerous projects relating to dental training and dental guideline implementation.
