Brief Biography

Kulsam’s expertise is in Clinical Trial Management. Prior to joining the DHSRU in June 2011, Kulsam worked for over five years at the Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre in London.

Qualifications

  • PhD Biology – University College London

  • MSc Industrial Biotechnology – Liverpool John Moores University

  • BSc (Hons) Biochemistry – University of Liverpool

Research Interests

Kulsam is the Clinical Trial Manager for the INTERVAL Dental Recalls Trial which is funded by the NIHR Health Technology Assessment Programme for 5.5 years (01-09-2011 to 28-02-2017).The Trial will evaluate the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of three different dental recall arrangements:

  • 6 month conventional fixed period recall interval
  • Risk-Variable-Adjusted Length recall interval based on the Nice Guideline
  • 24 month extended fixed period recall interval
The Trial will recruit 2288 patients from 44 general dental practices across the UK (Scotland, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland).
