Programmes

Design is an exciting subject which can lead to a variety of rewarding career opportunities. Design influences all aspects of our lives; it shapes everything from our social systems to culture to commerce. Through the study of Design, you can develop your creativity and expressive abilities, your conceptual and problem solving skills. This expertise will enable you to undertake the challenges of an increasingly complex world through the design of products, textiles, processes, spaces or multimedia solutions. Design can make a difference – you could be a part of that!

We have four undergraduate Bachelor of Design (BDes) programmes in Graphic Design, Interior & Environmental Design, Jewellery & Metal Design and Textile Design.

We offer two undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BSc) programmes, Innovative Product Design (IPD) and Interactive Media Design (IMD), which, in collaboration with Mechanical Engineering and the School of Computing, combine the teaching of design with studies in technology or computing to produce designers with the skills and knowledge needed to solve the increasingly complex design problems that confront society. The University of Dundee is the only University in the UK that offers this exciting new combination of integrated programmes.

We also offer a taught postgraduate programme, Master of Design (MDes) and postgraduate research degrees (MPhil and PhD).
