Adopt a beach is organised by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) and involves local individuals, groups and communities caring for their coastal environment. The MCS also organises an annual litter clean up and beach survey 'Beachwatch', which is the flagship event of the 'Adopt-a-Beach' project. Beachwatch takes place every year on the third weekend in September.
