Dundee has a world-wide reputation in Molecular Toxicology and Drug Metabolism, established over more than 50 years. Major research strengths are in the systems involved in chemical defence, their regulation and the consequences of their disruption by genetic and environmental factors (Wolf, Hayes, Coughtrie, Palmer, Dinkova-Kostova), and strong interactions with the pharmaceutical industry. The Pharmacogenomics Centre (Wolf, Palmer) has just opened, building on existing research excellence in the genetic basis of variation in drug response and personalised medicine.
