Molecular Dermatology

The Cancer Research UK Skin Tumour Laboratory (STL), which moved to Dundee with Leigh, dovetails with existing world-class research in inherited skin disorders led by McLean (with Smith and Sandilands).  The STL funds a number of PIs including Proby, and has close collaborations with recent recruits (South, Foerster), working on skin cancer and genetic skin diseases, providing a critical mass of interdisciplinary clinical and non-clinical scientists.  This makes Dundee one of the major centres in the world studying skin disorders.  NHS Tayside recently opened a new skin cancer clinical centre and also houses national centres for photodynamic therapy, photobiology and drug phototesting ( Ferguson , Fleming, Ibbotson), providing unparalleled facilities for clinical research in skin diseases.
