Malcolm Horner graduated with BSc and PhD degrees in Civil Engineering from University College London and spent several years in industry before being appointed in 1977 to a Lectureship in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Dundee. He is an Emeritus Professor of Engineering Management and leads the Construction Management Research Unit. He is a Fellow both of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a former Deputy Principal of the University. He has spent some 15 years in industry, including a period in which he was a Director of Atlantic Power, a North Sea Oil Project Management Company. He is currently Chairman of Scottish Enterprise Tayside, Chairman of the Institution of Civil Engineers' Scottish Management Board and Chairman of his own company, Whole Life Consultants Ltd.
