Innovation in Concrete Construction Applications
The Unit has developed a unique and potentially very significant self-curing system for concrete. The laboratory work has been successfully completed and industry-funded full-scale trials in highway and airport pavement applications have been carried out. Direct improvement to the quality of the surface layers of concrete is being evaluated in-situ through the use of controlled permeability formwork (CPF). This work is taking place in highway and water retaining structures. In addition, work has started on transferring research to industry in specifically targeted subject areas.
