A flexible degree
European Studies is an interdisciplinary programme, which means...
- Contemporary - although we fill in the historical background, we emphasize up-to-date problems and topics.
- European - we look at the whole of Europe, not just at the EU.
- Studies - our emphasis is on interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary work, drawing on members of staff who are experts in the fields listed below.
One of the major benefits of studying in the Scottish University system is the flexibility built into your studies. While you gain an in-depth knowledge of your degree subject, you also have the opportunity to broaden your horizons.
This is especially true for undergraduates on the European Studies programme. Due to the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary of the course you can combine your studies with the following programmes:
- Business Economics with Marketing
- Economics
- English
- Financial Economics
- Geography
- History
- International Business
- International Relations
- Law
- Philosophy
- Politics
- Psychology
and include in your degree Practical Languages (French, German and Spanish).
Other Languages such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Gaelic, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Latin, Russian, Spanish & Turkish are available as part of the Languages for All programme.
Modules
You can take a look at the module list for the programme in the University's prospectus.
Added value
As well as having all that flexibility built into your programme of study, you will also have the opportunity to:
- study abroad or to spend time on work placements varying from one year to a semester or a shorter stay during the summer vacation period.
- earn a joint degree both from Dundee and a European partner institution, dependent on partner institution.
