European Documentation Centre
Who's afraid of Europe?
The European Documentation Centre was set up in Dundee in 1971, just after Britain joined the European Community, so we have a collection spanning twenty-six years of membership.
The collection consists of one copy of each publicly available document issued by the major institutions of the European Union, classified and arranged in a user-friendly way. If you get into difficulties finding what you are looking for - just ask: the librarians are user-friendly too! It can be a bit daunting trying to find your way around the maze that is Union documentation, and you can be confused by the method of citations of all the different types of document.
Besides hard copy, there is access to the websites of the Union, and also several CD-ROMs on various subjects.
Source Lists compiled for students researching dissertations are available at the EDC.
Europe is an ever-moving community - it takes a lot to keep up with the changes which are happending each day, but the tools are here - we are here to help you use them to best advantage.
More information can be found on the European Documentation Centre's web page.
