Dr. jur. (Göttingen). Scientific Member of the Institute of Public International Law, University of Göttingen, Germany. Honorary Lecturer in Nucelar Law at the University of Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom.
- Since 1970 Adviser in Nuclear Law Matters to the Government of Germany and ad hoc Adviser to the Governments of other States.
- Representative of Germany at numerous international negotiations, conferences, and other meetings including the Nuclear Law Committee of the OECD/NEA.
- Representative of the European Union Council in the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organisation's (KEDO) Contact Group on Nucelar Liability.
- Director of the Centre for Studies and Research in International Law and International Relations at the Hague Academy of International Law, Netherlands, in 1993.
- Member of the Board of the International School for Nuclear Law at the University of Montpellier, France.
- Member of the International Nuclear Liability Expert Group (INLEX) of the IAEA.
- Organiser of, and teacher at, numerous international conferences and seminars including the Montpellier Nuclear Law School.
- Honorary President and Board Member of the International Nuclear Law Association (INLA), Chairman of the German Branch of INLA.
