Casey Ballard is a Director with Gordius Consulting in Houston, Texas. Ms. Ballard has ten years of experience in the energy industry in finance and accounting, including financial modeling, valuations, forensic accounting reviews, fraud investigation, litigation support, and general accounting assistance. Her energy industry experience includes oil, natural gas, liquids, electricity, and petrochemical segments. Ms. Ballard's experience in the upstream and downstream segments of the petroleum industry includes forensic accounting for financial and physical trades of energy commodities such as natural gas, oil products, liquids, and electricity; crude and natural gas valuation; product valuation; pricing of production; pricing of processed products; transportation pricing; royalty valuation; MMS issues; gas marketing best-practices; and valuation of energy companies. Her most recent cases have been focused on trading and risk management, performing trade book valuations and portfolio optimization analyses, in addition to assisting companies with their regulatory compliance in this area.
Prior to joining Gordius Consulting, Ms. Ballard spent three years leading energy related litigation support teams in the Energy & Environment practice at CRA International, in addition to several years in similar roles at other consulting firms.
Some of her recent notable assignments include: assisting the creditors of a former Fortune 10 energy trading company in determining the value of the company's trade book for use in determination of solvency; assisting an energy trading & marketing company in explaining the business purposes of its trading activity during FERC & CFTC investigations into market manipulation; working with multiple natural gas trading companies to assist them with FERC capacity release issues; and determining lost profits from trading for power plant owners as part of an overall damages calculation due to construction delays.
Ms. Ballard earned her bachelor's degree in accounting and her master's degree in finance from The Mays School of Business at Texas A&M University. She is also a Certified Public Accountant, licensed to practice in Texas.
