Research

Andon joined the Centre in July 2007 to pursue research in petroleum taxation. He worked for six years at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries in Trinidad & Tobago in the planning and commercial divisions. He completed his Master’s in Mineral Economics in 2006 at Michigan Technological University where he also served as a teaching assistant. Andon now serves as a research and teaching assistant at the Centre.

His PhD research involves looking at upstream petroleum taxation around the world and testing their potential effects on petroleum supply using economic models. In particular, he is interested in the common combinations of petroleum fiscal instruments used by governments and the likely economic distortions introduced by these fiscal combinations. His past research includes an investigation into the fishing dispute between Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados, as well as a comparison of petroleum fiscal regimes using contingent claims analysis.
