P Stevens, Resource impact: A curse or a blessing? This is concerned with trying to understand what the various players may be able to do in order to reduce the risk of large scale oil or gas revenues having a negative effect on the economy of the host country. The guiding idea is to develop different responses depending upon the different developmental and governance contexts. Outputs will include:
“Resource impact: A curse or a blessing? – A literature survey”.

P Stevens, National Oil Companies. This is concerned with trying to evaluate the past, present and future role of national oil companies. In particular, its focus is on how the role of the national oil companies fits into the prevailing economic ideology of the day. Its outcome will be to consider the future likely role for such companies and their interactions with the major international oil companies. Outputs will include:“National Oil Companies: Good or Bad? - A literature survey”.
