Current Vacancies Petrolem & Energy Economics - Full-time Lecturer/Senior Lecturer Energy industry professionals: Through its post-graduate degree programmes, CEPMLP offers you a chance to develop skills in the field of energy and natural resources law and policy which can form the basis of a new career. What background is appropriate? Anybody with a degree, good English, and few years experience in the energy and natural resources sector (or a related activity) can fully participate in our degree programme. We have had lawyers, geologists, economists, engineers, financiers, chemists, accountants, project managers, environmental scientists, journalists and army officers. Who will teach you? The teaching staff at CEPMLP all have track records in industry, consultancy or government. The focus of the courses is on practical problems. Who will you study with? Most of your colleagues at CEPMLP will be young professionals or mid-careers professionals from governments and companies, from thirty or more countries in all parts of the world. You will be able to learn from their problems and experiences, and build a network of contacts for your new career. What degrees? We offer a portfolio of degree programmes leading to LLM, MSc and MBA degrees. What will you study? The Centre offers a wide range of courses in law, regulation, economics, finance, business transactions and taxation, for the oil, gas, electricity, mining, water and environmental sectors. You will have considerable scope to tailor-make a programme of courses which suits your particular needs and aspirations. A three-week induction programme ensures that you quickly fill any gaps in your knowledge of basic issues in law, economics and research methods. How will you study? The degree courses involve a combination of formal classes, group exercises and reading. Assessment for most of the courses is by research paper, and, in most cases, you can choose your own topic for research (subject to the approval of the lecturer). This will allow you to pursue your own interests and develop the specific expertise you require for your future career. Progression is through credit accumulation, and credit may be gained through dissertation, case studies and internship, in addition to the regular courses. How long will it take? The Masters degree courses are planned to be completed in one year, though those with language difficulties may choose to take up to two years. For the well-organised professional with no language problems, it is possible to complete in nine months if you work hard. When can you start? We have two intakes: October and January. However, we are prepared to consider enrolment at other times of year in special cases. Finding the next job? CEPMLP is not a job centre and we cannot guarantee that you will find a job immediately. However the Centre, its staff and students lie at the heart of an extensive network of contacts which spans the globe. We receive large numbers of visitors from government and industry, many of these are Alumni of CEPMLP now in influential positions. CEPMLP provides an ideal base to plan your next career move. Our track record? CEPMLP has received a steady flow of mid-career professionals seeking a change of direction.
