Launch of OGEL, a new energy intelligence service from

Alexander's Gas and Oil Connections

Alexander's Gas & Oil Connections (www.gas-oil-power.com) is launching  an oil-gas-energy law intelligence service, OGEL, focusing on analysis of and comments on recent developments in the area of oil-gas-energy law, regulation, treaties, voluntary guidelines, tax and contracting.

OGEL is being launched in association  with  Thomas Waelde and Associates.  Professor Waelde is the Professor (and Jean-Monnet Chair) of International Energy Law (and former Executive Director) of the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy at the University of Dundee, the internationally leading graduate school in oil, gas and energy law and policy. Prof Waelde is the Editor/Owner of the CEPMLP Internet Journal on Natural Resources, Energy and International Business Transactions ( www.cepmlp.org/journal ) and the CEPMLP's ENATRES Internet Forum. OGEL will constitute a branching off into the more specialized area of oil-gas-energy law. OGEL is o supported by  CEPMLP/Dundee, the  International Bar Association and other international organizations and companies in the oil, gas and energy area.

OGEL will be complemented by a hyper-linked oil-gas-energy law knowledge bank consisting of:

  • An expanding database of primary legal documentation (laws, regulations, voluntary guidelines, treaties, contracts, judgements and awards; official reports);
  • An expanding database of previous OGEL comments, notes, articles and in-depth studies
  • An Internet Forum (Oil-Gas-Energy Law) for rapid circulation of news and intelligence, information search requests and discussion among members.

OGEL will initially be free, but registration-based. It is planned to move towards cost recovery through a differentiated fee-based subscription system in 2003.

The first issues of the OGEL newsletter will be emailed to about 10-15000 professionals in the oil-gas-energy world. IT will subsequently be available on registration with Alexander's www.gasandoil.com website - which is visited by over 1 million visitors per year.
