CENTRE ANNUAL REVIEW 2001 INTRODUCTION We are glad to bring you the 5th Edition of the Centre Annual Review. The papers profiled represent the diverse topics and issues considered over the year 2000/2001. The issues cover areas extending from water law, mineral law, and environmental law to energy law. The papers reflect the multi-disciplinary background of the Centre as they are not limited to legal issues but also cover a range of economic and geological issues. This year's edition is the result of the relentless effort of the editorial team members ¨ ADAEZE IFESI ¨ ROGERIO MIRANDA ¨ SREENATH VAKKALERI ¨ OLGA SOROKINA ¨ ELIJAH NGURARE ¨ And our dedicated supervisor Dr Arthur WardenFor the team it has been an arduous task of selection as all the papers submitted were of such a high quality. We wish to apologise for those excellent papers which could not be published for lack of space. The team must also acknowledge the assistance of Dr Philip Andrews-Speed, the Director of the Centre.
