A result of Dr Kamla’s important research into Islamic accounting is this unique MSc, recognised by The Scotsman as the first course of this kind in the UK. Aswell as focusing on Islamic finance, this programme places emphasis on accounting along with knowledge of Islamic law so students can study this crucial discipline practically and within in an interdisciplinary model. Additionally, membership of the Islamic Finance Council allows those studying the programme to have close contact with the industry and policy-makers, meaning students on this course will be provided with a multi-faceted and theoretical approach to Islamic finance.

Prof Catia Montagna and Dr Sushil Mohan were knowledge base partners for the successful project over the period October 2008 - October 2010. This partnership between Economic Studies and John M Henderson & Co Limited, a Scottish engineering firm based in Arbroath, won the ‘Best KTP Associate Presentation 2010’ award at the KTP Scotland Awards Ceremony held in Dunblane, February 2011. The Associate presentation highlighted the outcomes that have been achieved with the knowledge exchange activity from the Partnership, namely to develop a global marketing information system for John M Henderson & Co.
