Graduate Employment in the UK
The employment market in the UK is made up of a variety of organisation from small to medium sized enterprises to large organisations. Many UK employers do recruit EU and International Students; however if you are an International Student, it is a good idea to find out if the employer sponsors International applicants before you apply.
If you are a postgraduate student, (studying a PGCert / PGDip or MSc) and wish to work in the UK after your studies, it is important that you start applying for vacancies as soon as you arrive in the UK. If you wait until your course finishes, you may miss the application deadlines.
The diagram above explains the Graduate employment timeline and how the Careers Service can support you.

Immigration and Working in the UK
For some EU and International students, there are restrictions to studying and working in the UK. Please be aware that the Careers Service is only authorised to give general information about visas. We recommend that you contact the University's International Advice Service for individual visa advice.

Gaining paid (part time work) or unpaid (volunteering) work experience as a student is an excellent way to strengthen your CV. However, for some EU and International students, the amount of work experience you can undertake will vary dependant upon your type of visa.
