Internship Module
The Careers Services offers an Internship Module at level 2 each academic year in semester two.
There are two classes available each year:
- Class 1 has classes on Wednesdays 10 - 12;
- Class 2 has classes on Fridays 10 - 12
The module consists of a placement with an employer or organisation for a total of 30 hours
throughout the semester, and group tuition in the form of 10 weekly 2 hour seminars.
Previous Placement Providers include charities, political parties, local government & public
sector organisations, environmental organisations, the NHS and many more.
The Module aims to provide students with meaningful work experience through an Internship
Placement whilst also developing project management, report writing and a range of career
management skills including CV writing, interview performance and presentation training.
Placements are competitive so you must be prepared to produce a high quality application form and
attend an interview before the module starts. You must be able to commit fully to a 30-hour
internship placement and approach your placement with a professional attitude.
Registering for Undergraduate Careers Modules
Students will meet with their Adviser of Studies. If interested please phone the Careers Service
on (3)84017. The Careers Service Academic Secretary (Margaret Mather) will check availability on
the course of choice and advise if space is available. If space is available Margaret will add
their details to the list. The Adviser of Studies must then continue to register the student for
the module in their normal manner.
Students registering for the Internship Module MUST come to the Careers Service to apply for an
internship in Week 0 of Semester 1. Failure to do so may mean you are unable to take this
module.
